Formal Season

For those of us who don’t walk red carpets regularly and who are still waiting for an invitation to the Met Gala, the formal gives us a chance to show up and show out. You only have one chance to impress at your formal, so, what should you wear? When it comes to choosing the perfect dress we’re always left asking the age-old question, does size matter? Should you break tradition and go for a thigh grazing mini or opt for a tried and tested maxi style? You’ll have to decide that all on your own, babe, but we’ll show you some of our fave formal styles and throw in a few formal tips to help you make your night memorable.

Keep it short and sweet in these sultry formal styles. There’s a million reasons why we’re so into mini dresses, the most obvious being that they’re flirty, elongate your legs and give the illusion that you’re taller than you really are (bless!) and they’re easy to dress up or dial down.

There’s a reason why maxis are the unofficial uniform of formals everywhere. We love minis, we really do and can’t stop adding more to our collection, but there’s something about a maxi that makes our hearts flutter. We think it’s because they make us look like goddesses and thigh high slits allow us to recreate one of our fave red carpet moments, the Angelina Jolie leg lunge.

Whatever style you choose, we’re sure you’ll look amazing and have a brill time at formal. If you’re stuck on footwear, you can kick it in a pair of our heels.

Tips:

-       Someone wearing the same dress as you isn’t a bad thing, it means you have great taste and made the right decision.

-       Be prepared for an after party because there’s always an after party.

-       Set. Your. Make. Up.

-       Ask the DJ to play the ‘Ignition Remix’ even if they’ve already played it four times.

-       Take lots of photos from as many angles as you can so you can have options for Insta.
