Balancing your academic life, sorority events, social schedule, job responsibilities, all while maintaining self care can be a lot. Here are some of our favorite tips on how to find and maintain a balance between all that you do!
Identify what works for you! Figure out what factors allow you to study better and more efficiently. If studying with a group doesn’t allow you to learn the material as well or it takes longer, then try studying alone. Or, if you find yourself needing to ask questions about the course material, try finding a study buddy or group to discuss and work through the content.
Recognize your abilities, energy levels, needs, and goals and design your balance around that. Some people need more social interaction than others. Some people need to work and their job intensity, schedule, and pay will vary among people. Each sorority has varying levels of required participation. Each person has different self care regimes and each person requires their own amount of down time. Once you identify your abilities, energy levels, needs, and goals you can organize a schedule that allows you to find a balance that will work for you, and adjust accordingly.
You can schedule reset time once a day or once a week (or both!). This is time to get your life together. Many choose to do this on Sundays. Use this time to align your ideal schedule with the upcoming week’s requirements. This can include additional study time if you have an upcoming test, preparing for any trips, adding any appointments, etc. This will help you recognize how busy your week will be so you can prepare accordingly. This is also a great time to complete any miscellaneous tasks such as cleaning, completing any remaining items on your to do list, etc.
